Session 1: John A. Kinch, Executive Director at Michigan Energy Options, Scott Whitcomb, Director, Office of Public Lands at Michigan Department of Natural Resources
The Michigan DNR manages 4.7 million acres on behalf of current and future generations. While most of this land is managed for natural resources or recreational outcomes, some is managed for commercial uses such as oil and gas, sand and gravel, cell phone towers, or even utility scale solar. Understanding DNR’s mission, processes and policies will help inform how these lands are evaluated and decisions made for these uses of public lands.
Scott Whitcomb, Director, Office of Public Lands, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and John Kinch, PhD, Executive Director of Michigan Energy Options have been working together for several years on in-front-of and behind-the-meter solar projects at DNR sites.
Session 2: Joshua D. Beard, Attorney with Mike Meyers
Credits: 2 CEUs
