This presentation reviews the issue of natural gas flaring on a global/ macro-level, before exploring the technical reasons why flaring occurs. Next, the presentation explores the state-level regulations in Texas and New Mexico that govern an operator's ability to flare natural gas. Finally, the presentation explores how regulatory pressures to end/limit flaring have led to increased opportunities for the use of natural gas to power cryptocurrency mining operations.
