Landman Ethics: Next Right Thing - Cake or Pie? Sept. 10, 2025

  • Registration Closed

Date: September 10

Live webinar

Time: 11am to 12pm CDT

Presenter: Jimmy Sledge

1 Ethic CEU

This presentation looks at Ethics both within the Oil & Gas Industry and also within the daily lives of the Land Professional. We have a history of landmen who have been great mentors to us, but also examples of landmen who modeled ethical behavior as well. Ethics is not the avoidance of doing the wrong things, but always seeking to do the Next Right Thing.  While there are acceptable practices in many aspects of what we do, there are also defined elements of right and wrong.

Objective:

  1. To show that: Ethics is more than avoiding the wrong thing.  It is doing the Next Right Thing.
  2. To remember that: The Golden Rule and treating others as you would like to be treated is still applicable to the daily practices of Landmen.
  3. To emphasize that: To do the Next Right Thing, it is important to have a right view of the industry.
  4. To reflect on the AAPL Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and how to apply those in our spheres of influence as Landmen.
  5. To remind everyone that: Doing the Next Right Thing is not a new concept and that we have a history of mentors who did the Next Right Thing.
